Channels are for sending differrent types of ICBM's (Instant Messages).

WinAIM currently supports at four ICBM channels. They are:

  1. Channel 1 - AOLIM (AOL and Compuserve Instant Messages)
  2. Channel 2 - Rendezvous (AIM Instant Messages, i.e., Chat, Direct IM, File Transfer)
  3. Channel 3 - Chat (Chat Instant Messages)
  4. Channel 4 - ICQ (ICQ Instant Messages)

Note that the Channel 3 message parsing is handled in the Chat (rather than ICBM) handler.
