3. When the Properties window displays, click the Digital Signature tab
4. Select the first entry in the Signature List and click the Details button.
5. The signature status will display at the top of the Details dialog.
6. If the signature message states that “This digital signature is OK.”, then the firmware package is authenticated as an HPE package
7. If the message “This digital signature is not OK.” displays, then do the following:
a. Do not deploy the firmware.
b. Download firmware a second time and verify the signature again. If the signature is not OK, then contact HPE Technical Support.
To verify the SHA256 hash value, do the following steps:
1. Use Microsoft Windows CRC/SHA tool to calculate the SHA256 hash value for <filename>.exe.
2. Compare the calculated value with the SHA256 value displayed in the Installation Instruction tab of the HPE Support Center download page.

Existing command output/VIB behavior changes:

1. System reboot is required for changes to take effect post VIB installation. This is because of the esxcli plugin support. StorCLI namespace needs to be registered with esxcli and hence a system reboot is the mandatory step per VMware for changes to take effect.
2. If StorCLI utility is directly executed, Command output will be in XML format with XML encoded special characters in place.
Files access / permissions:

1. By default, CLI log file or any files, which are generated by plugin, will be created under /var/log/vmware/ directory.
2. An absolute file path needs to be provided for any plugins which take file as an input.
Limitations:
=============
1. Memory and temp file reservation for storcli is restricted to 100MB in ESXi8.0. Hence if this memory / temp file reservation is exhausted, Plugin will not be able to parse the data correctly. Hence please make sure that the mentioned amount of memory is reserved.
2. Direct StorCLI utility command execution will yield a XML formatted output which aligns to XML rule set.
3. Command options / command / namespaces in ESXCLI plugin are case sensitive. Hence plugin should be executed based on the help mentioned for each of the esxcli plugin else esxcli plugin will error out.
4. ESXCLI plugin has a command output data limit. If this exceeds, Plugin will not parse and display the information. If the command output length is more, Please use the file option to store the data instead else please follow the below instructions from VMware to increase the data limit.
Steps to increase the command data limit:

2. Try bumping the limits in the below in VMOMI adapter and see if it helps when running esxcli.

2. The command options to the plugins are maintained in lower case as they are case sensitive.
3. The command options are presented in alphabetical order of the parameter name. It's per the esxcli plugin convention/rules.
4. Input value needs to be enclosed in double quotes if format of the value has a space.
5. Help command is not added as the esxcli plugin framework offers help based on the available namespaces and corresponding commands/command options can be queried accordingly.

2. Right-click the filename then select Properties
3. When the Properties window displays, click the Digital Signature tab
4. Select the first entry in the Signature List and click the Details button.
5. The signature status will display at the top of the Details dialog.
6. If the signature message states that “This digital signature is OK.”, then the firmware package is authenticated as an HPE package
7. If the message “This digital signature is not OK.” displays, then do the following:
a. Do not deploy the firmware.
b. Download firmware a second time and verify the signature again. If the signature is not OK, then contact HPE Technical Support.

The target environment must have the libHBAAPI Package installed prior to the installation of the firmware as the discovery of adapters might not complete without the library. (If not already present, the libHBAAPI Package can be obtained from the operating system installation media.)
The HPE supplied enablement kit must be installed prior to this firmware component being identified by SUM for deployment.
The OOB driver and enablement kit are available on the Service Pack for ProLiant (SPP) which is available at http://www.hpe.com/servers/spp/download.
It is advised to provide read-write permissions on /var/tmp folder. Firmware deployment via Service Pack for ProLiant(SPP) might be unsuccessful in some cases , if read-write(rw) permissions are not enable on /tmp or /var/tmp directories.
NOTE: During the flash operation, the message "No Adapter Found!" may appear in the logs. These messages do not indicate a problem with the firmware flash operation and may be ignored.
It is advised to provide read-write permissions on /var/tmp folder. Firmware deployment via Service Pack for ProLiant(SPP) might be unsuccessful in some cases , if read-write(rw) permissions are not enable on /tmp or /var/tmp directories.

]]>Download the Smart Component to a directory on your hard drive and change to that directory. The downloaded file is a self-extracting executable with a filename based on the Smart Component Number.
From that drive and directory, execute the downloaded file.

NOTE: If user tries to install the same version of the build again when the build is already installed, the behavior can be erratic. Recommendation would be to un-install and install the build to make any changes to the existing installer.

Verify the RPM signature using the following steps:

Verify the RPM:
Use the rpm --checksig command to validate and verify the digital signature of the signed file. The output from the command indicates the validity of the signature:

If your file does not pass verification or you do not have the Hewlett Packard Enterprise Company public key installed, you may see an error:

2. Right-click the filename then select Properties
3. When the Properties window displays, click the Digital Signature tab
4. Select the first entry in the Signature List and click the Details button.
5. The signature status will display at the top of the Details dialog.
6. If the signature message states that “This digital signature is OK.”, then the firmware package is authenticated as an HPE package
7. If the message “This digital signature is not OK.” displays, then do the following:
a. Do not deploy the firmware.
b. Download firmware a second time and verify the signature again. If the signature is not OK, then contact HPE Technical Support.
To verify the SHA256 hash value, do the following steps:
1. Use Microsoft Windows CRC/SHA tool to calculate the SHA256 hash value for <filename>.exe.
2. Compare the calculated value with the SHA256 value displayed in the Installation Instruction tab of the HPE Support Center download page.
• If the values match, then the integrity of the downloaded file has been verified.
• If the values do not match, do not deploy the file or its contents.
• Download the file a second time and compare the new hash value.

IMPORTANT UPDATE: SSA (GUI) for Linux can now be run without requiring the System Management Homepage. SSA now supports a Local Application Mode for Linux. The System Management Homepage is still supported, but no longer required to run the SSA GUI.
